'As Above, So Below'
This phrase comes from the beginning of The Emerald Tablet and embraces the entire system of traditional and modern magic which was inscribed upon the tablet in cryptic wording by Hermes Trismegistus. The significance of this phrase is that it is believed to hold the key to all mysteries. All systems of magic are claimed to function by this formula. "'That which is above is the same as that which is below'...Macrocosmos is the same as microcosmos. The universe is the same as God, God is the same as man, man is the same as the cell, the cell is the same as the atom, the atom is the same as...and so on, ad infinitum."

FANTASTIC!

'As Above So Below' shows the potential of this group - a mixture of hard rock, sonic noises and loads of Arabic scales! Excellent - unquestionably brilliant drumming from the great Danny Thomson, shredding guitar solos from Glenn Povey, and, as to be expected, gutshaking, out of control bass from Alan Davey!

Addictive riffage, over-the-top instrumentals, aggressive lyrics.....

Approach this album with an open mind, and forget what you think about Gunslinger or any of Alan's other thousand projects for a moment, and embrace the magic of this...

I'd describe it as if Lemmy was Iranian and had a smooth voice - but with even better basslines and solos, and more melodic riffage!

10/10 - Probably the best album I've bought in years! Nobody makes music like this!
